Position Description:

Washtenaw Community College is currently seeking qualified candidates to assist Faculty in the welding laboratory. This position is part-time, up to 20hrs per week for the Fall, Winter and Spring Summer semesters.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Help prepare the lab for class by turning on exhaust fans, welding gasses shop/booth lights and unlock metal room doors
• Check stock of metal bins in the lab and restock as necessary
• Setup and breakdown process demonstration stations
• Sort scrap metal bins and recycle any reusable material
• Field phone calls received and relay information to appropriate staff
• Manage the tool crib by tracking tools provided to students
• Monitor and report on inventory levels of instructional supplies and tools housed in the tool crib
• Sanitize and maintain safety gear housed in tool crib
• Ensure booths are clean, safe and prepped with appropriate supplies needed for each process
• Check and maintain proper water level in quench tanks
• Clean and maintain fabrication/welding booth tables and surrounding area
• Replace welding gas cylinders when necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience with arc welding, oxy-fuel and plasma processes
• Completed or currently enrolled in a WAF class
• Proficient in sending and receiving email correspondence
• Capable of reading measuring devices
• Available to work morning, afternoons, nights and weekends
• Must have means of transportation to and from work
• Capable of lifting and transporting at least 50 pounds
