Position Description:

The Student Center Welcome Greeter is responsible for greeting students, staff, faculty, and community members to Washtenaw Community College. This position will staff a Welcome Kiosk on the north side of the 1st floor of the Student Center Building and welcome individuals as they walk in the door. They will greet each customer with a smile, provide directional information for the campus, and provide various information about the College and its services. This position reports to the Director of Student Development and Activities.

This is a Part-Time Level II position and we are looking for an individual who can commit the following weekly schedule:
• Monday – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Greeting at Welcome Kiosk)
• Tuesday – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Greeting at Welcome Kiosk)
• Wednesday – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Greeting at Welcome Kiosk)
• Thursday – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Greeting at Welcome Kiosk)
• Friday – 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Weekly Preparation)

Job Duties:
• Customer Service
o Be welcoming, kind, and greet each guest as they enter the Student Center Building.
o Provide high-quality customer service; resolve complaints in a professional manner.
o Assist customers in navigating WCC’s campus and buildings.
o Assist customers in navigating College support services.

• Promotion of WCC Programs and Services
o Actively and continuously, educate yourself on the programs and services provided at Washtenaw Community College.
o Maintain expert-level knowledge of the admissions/enrollment process at WCC.
o Maintain expert-level knowledge of the overall programming and current offerings within the Department of Student Development and Activities.
o Educate and connect customers to College resources they may not know about.
o Contact Student Services Departments weekly to gather promotional priorities.
o Contact Student Development managers weekly to gather promotional priorities.
o Contact Conference Services weekly to gather major event information priorities.
o Keep track of major construction/office relocation changes occurring on campus.
o Promote acquired information to customers at the Welcome Kiosk.
o Develop and implement creative and fun promotional activities.

• Development of Informational Tools
o Develop and maintain a Welcome Kiosk reference binder.
o Develop quick handouts to address frequently asked questions.
o Maintain a portable information file box for informational handouts, maps, and promotional materials.

• Data Collection and Summarization
o Track number of customers assisted at the Welcome Kiosk
o Record all customer questions into a FAQ database.
o Encourage customer feedback through the use of comment cards.
o Create a weekly summary report of traffic, questions asked, and customer feedback.

• Reporting and Communication
o Meet with the Director of Student Development and Activities on a weekly basis to discuss weekly report outcomes.
o Immediately report suspicious or unruly behavior in the Student Center to both Campus Safety and the Director of Student Development and Activities.
o Report First Floor Student Center custodial and maintenance issues to Facilities Services.

• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Development and Activities.

• Proficient in Google Docs, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, the Internet, and email.

• Dedicated to improving oneself and learning on the job.
• Able to work independently in a responsible manner.
