Position Description:

This is a student position responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Student Development and Activities (SDA) Department.
Position Schedule Requirements:
We are looking for an individual who can commit to the following schedule:
Be available during peak event hours for at least two of the four peak days per week:
• Monday – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
• Tuesday – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
• Wednesday – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
• Thursday – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Be available for a total of 19.5 hours during regular business hours:
• Monday – 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Tuesday – 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Wednesday – 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Thursday – 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Friday – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Become available for evening and weekend events with advanced notice.
These schedule requirements will be in place for subsequent semesters after being hired and are mandatory to continued eligibility for this position. This is a student position and all applicants must commit to being enrolled in classes at WCC for at least one year: Fall, Winter, Spring/Summer. This position may last up to two full years (six consecutive semesters).
Essential Job Duties:
• Help introduce student workers to the department, training checklist, and student development program.
• Be the student leader of the weekly part-time staff meetings and social hours.
• Assist with the planning of department events and retreats.
• Post and clean-up of campus bulletin boards, news racks, and Student Services newsletters.
• Assist in providing special project/committee support and professional communications preparation.

Secondary Job Duties:
• Open and close the Student Activities office as described within department procedure.
• Direct incoming calls and maintain front desk area; check phone messages and forward information to SDA staff members via email; measure student traffic.
• Keep excellent detailed records and communicate with all staff members concerning daily activities.
• Respond to inquiries about WCC and Student Activities in a friendly, customer service-driven manner.
• Learn and be knowledgeable about all activities; explain upcoming events, provide ticket information, and provide service to members of student organizations.
• Assist in the planning, set up and implementation of programs and events as directed by the full-time staff; be outgoing and friendly with student attendees; attend pre-trip meetings.
• Assist with marketing: create flyers, compile packets, and enter information on the Internet.
• Other duties as assigned.
