Position Description:

Washtenaw Community College is looking for an energetic individual to teach an intermediate-advanced Linux System Administration course in a blended/online format. Applicants will be considered for future semesters as needed.
This individual will work with individuals in the CIS Department and other stakeholders at the College to understand the Linux curriculum of the College. The individual will teach a blended intermediate-advanced level System Administration course to students of the College using online content, online reference materials, online assessment materials, multimedia, virtual and simulated Linux environments, with synchronous and asynchronous online exercises.
The successful candidate will be innovative and creative, will understand and embrace the value of online/blended learning to students of the College, will be organized and will be an effective communicator. A professional background in Linux production environments is desirable. Additional experience in teaching and training Linux system administration and shell scripting in College, High School or other profit/non-profit organizational settings is also desirable.
The successful candidate will also be expected to understand the objectives of the LPIC-1, LPI Linux Essentials, and Linux+ certifications and to encourage students to obtain such certification(s). Experience with NDG Netlabs+ environment a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or related area preferred. Bachelor Degree minimum in Computer Science or related area required. Minimum two years field experience in Linux System Administration required.

Preferred Qualifications:

One or more of the following credentials: LPIC-1, LPIC-2, and/or Linux+ certifications preferred. Prior teaching/training experience preferred but not required.
