Position Description:

The Department of Workforce Development is seeking a trainer to teach basic skills (reading, math, locating information, computer skills) the Fall Term 2017. Interested candidates must be able to provide an engaging learning experience while utilizing specialized software. This position will work at the WCC Harriet St. Center located in Ypsilanti, MI.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide course instruction and demonstration in a self-paced class setting.
• Create learning plans and appropriate content based on participant needs.
• Communicate with multiple stakeholders including participants, community partners, and program manager.
• Support the stated mission, goals, policies and regulations of WCC.
• Support and abide by the local, state and federal laws that affect the College.
• Attend a mandatory orientation session.
• Must be present for all scheduled class sessions
• Must complete and return all official course paperwork in a timely manner.
• Keep abreast of developments in field of specialization and/or instruction.
• Prepare, develop, and/or revise curricula based on WCC goals and guidelines, as needed.
• Submit required course outlines, textbooks, instructional materials, and orders for supplies in a timely manner.
• Instructor must be willing to work 20 hours per week, and available during various times.

• Bachelor’s degree
• Must have demonstrated experience in instruction for adults in the areas of basic skills, and end user computing.
• Must have demonstrated ability to develop curriculum relating these categories and best methods to teach these skills to multi-generational age ranges.
